Popular Culture Destroys

I do like technology.  Most of the time.  It can save lives and help people communicate all over the world. It can help us know, feel that we are not alone.

Wendell Berry, the environmental writer and activist doesn't...won't use a computer. He farms his organic fields using horses.  He keeps it simple.  Less complicated. I like that.

I'm not a fan of popular culture. Or reality tv shows, or anything that doesn't bring us together and lift us up.

This trip taken with a couple of through Appalachian Trail hikers (that means they hiked the whole 1200 plus miles).  Pictured here at Icewater Springs, a shelter along the AT.  The evening before was a theatre of thunderstorms. It's the easy conversations, grounded, open, flowing.

Some of my best experiences have been the simple ones.  Walking, hiking, kayaking with friends and family.

Having a picnic in a park with my children thirty six years ago.
